Lawyers to hold forum on envi justice, migration in Thailand

On February 17, Rey Asis of APMM joined a consultation organized by the Confederation of Lawyers of Asia and the Pacific (COLAP) with the Rotary Peace Center at the Chulalongkorn University. The Rotary Peace Center will host the forum entitled, “Forum on Environmental Justice, Migration and Human Rights in Asia and the Pacific: Impact and Legal Remedies” being organised by the COLAP.

The meeting’s participants were Cong. Neri Colmenares and Grace Saguinsin for the COLAP, Suraponh Konchantuk (a lawyer who is the chairperson of the Cross Cultural Foundation), Surichai Wun’Gaeo (director of the Rotary Peace Center), and Ravadee Prasertcharoensuk (director of Sustainable Development Foundation). 

Due to the COVID-19 outbreak, the forum was postponed from March to August 2020. It will be held in Bangkok, Thailand.

Detailing of the forum’s program was also discussed. The International Migrants Alliance, a global alliance of grassroots migrant organizations to which the APMM serves as secretariat, has been identified to provide resource on the regional situation of migrants in Asia Pacific.
