APMM attends APRCEM meeting
On January 11-13, the Asia Pacific Mission for Migrants (APMM) attended the Regional Council Meeting of the Asia Pacific Regional CSO Engagement Mechanism (APRCEM). The APRCEM is a regional CSO platform formed in 2012 to engage with the United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific (UNESCAP) on sustainable development issues, particularly the implementation of the Agenda 2030 Sustainable Development Goals. The APMM is the focal point for the migrants’ constituency of the APRCEM.
The three-day RCC meeting focused on the results of the external evaluation of the APRCEM, followed by a series of workshops that assisted in the development of a three-year strategic plan and preparations for the Asia Pacific Forum on Sustainable Development scheduled in the end of March in Bangkok, Thailand.
The APMM joined the focal points for Small Medium Enterprises (SME) and Trade Unions (TU) constituencies to form the Communications Team, tasked to oversee communications strategies and plan for the APFSD and the Asia Pacific People’s Forum on Sustainable Development (APPFSD), which will precede the APFSD.
Rey Asis was authorized by Aaron Ceradoy, who is the official representative of the APMM for APRCEM, to attend the meeting.
[JUST IN] On February 24, the UNESCAP announced the postponement of the APFSD due to the coronavirus (COVID-19) outbreak. It is tentatively scheduled to the last quarter of 2020. Subsequently, the APRCEM announced the postponement of the APPFSD to be held back-to-back with the APFSD.
