[COVID-19] APMM, Films4Peace launch survey for Bangladeshi migrants

The Asia Pacific Mission for Migrants (APMM) and the Films4Peace Foundation of Bangladesh release today an online survey looking into the conditions and needs of Bangladeshi migrants during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Released in Bangla language, the online survey hopes to reach Bangladeshi migrants, estimated to be 10 million as of 2019. Many of them are found in many countries working in low-paying jobs as construction workers, janitors, and domestic workers.

The working and living conditions of Bangladeshi migrant workers make them prone to contracting the COVID-19 contagion, as reported in Singapore. Undocumented migrants have it worse especially now that certain countries are calling on the Bangladeshi government to repatriate their undocumented migrants and detainees.

Through this survey, we hope to assist in advocacies and campaigns for concrete government actions that shall uphold Bangladeshi migrants’ rights and address their plight.

The survey can be found here.
