[CALL FOR PARTICIPATION] Asia-Pacific CSO Forum and Ministerial Conference on the Beijing+30 Review - 17-21 November, Bangkok, Thailand

CALLING CSOs for #Beijing30!

The Asia Pacific Mission for Migrants (APMM), as a member of the Asia Pacific Civil Society Steering Committee for the Beijing+30 Review Process, is encouraging organizations whose work focuses on labour migration and issues of migrant women to register to the Asia-Pacific CSO Forum (17-18 November 2024) and Ministerial Conference (19-21 November 2024) on the Beijing+30 Review, taking place in Bangkok, Thailand. These events mark a significant milestone in our collective efforts to critically assess and accelerate the implementation of the Beijing Declaration and Platform for Action (BPfA).

Why is this Regional Review Important

In light of ongoing polycrises and persistent inequalities, including current and emerging forms of sexual and gender-based violence, regressive labour force participation, widening gender pay gaps and economic inequalities, disproportionate and unpaid care burdens, digital divide, reduced funding of feminist movement and shrinking civic spaces and escalating climate crisis, this review offers a critical opportunity for the renewal of our collective commitment. The outcomes of the CSO Forum will contribute to shaping the deliberations and commitments in the Ministerial Conference as well as the discussions at the 69th session of the Commission on the Status of Women (CSW69) in 2025.

CSO Forum: Building Collective Voices

The CSO Forum, preceding the Ministerial Conference, will serve as a vital space for us to consolidate our analysis, shared vision and advocacy. The Forum will reflect the outcomes of the four thematic CSO consultations that have taken place on the following themes:

  1. Advancing Women’s Economic Justice and Rights, Social Protection, and Decent Work

  2. Boosting Women’s Leadership, Representation, and Political Participation

  3. Strategies to End Discrimination and Violence Against Women

  4. Future Forward Strategies for Gender Equality and Equity

Attended by over 600 participants from the region these consultations have been at the centre of the regional preparatory process, providing critical insights and recommendations that will shape the agenda of the CSO Forum and guide our joint advocacy efforts at the Ministerial Conference.
