Call to Action for Protection of Migrant Human Rights Defenders in Asia and the Pacific

An Asia Pacific Regional Consultation with Migrant Human Rights Defenders was organized by the Office of the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights (OHCHR) and Asia Pacific Mission for Migrants (APMM) last 28 – 29 November 2024 in Bangkok, Thailand.

Individuals or groups who strive to protect and promote the human rights of migrants are considered as Migrant Human Rights Defenders, including the migrants themselves.

The Consultation aimed to provide a dedicated conversation on the situation of migrant human rights defenders in the region. It brings together migrants, grass-roots civil society organisations and representatives, human rights organisations, OHCHR, as well as experts from UN human rights mechanisms.

The consultation identified the call to actions as priority recommendations to states, as below.
