[Upsurge the Care HK] Support our Migrant Domestics in COVID-Distress

The project is an urgent appeal for donation to respond to the needs of women migrant domestic workers gravely affected by the upsurge of COVID-19 in Hong Kong.

As the COVID-19 situation is in an upsurge, the project seeks to counter its worse effects to MDWs by an upsurge of care and compassion.

To date, news reports and live stories from community organisations of MDWs have revealed a sad picture of MDWs without place to sleep and unceremoniously terminated from employment due even to just mere suspicion of COVID-19 infection. The insecurity, vulnerability and stress to women migrant domestic workers is unimaginable.

"Upsurge the Care HK" is a quick reaction project of the Asia Pacific Mission for Migrants (APMM) and grassroots community organisations who are directly on-the-ground among MDWs.

The project will provide the following to those most in need:

1. Safe and secure sleeping place (tents, blankets, torchlights)
2. Healthy food and water
3. Antigen kits
4. Vitamins
5. Hygiene kit
6. Data sim packs for communication

The project will also provide information to the rest of the community as pre-emptive response should they find themselves in distress in the next few weeks. It will also create a social awareness drive to appeal to embrace and not abandon MDWs.

As an immediate target, "Upsurge the Care HK" aims to bring various forms of assistance and crisis response to 1000 women MDWs within the next four weeks.

Let's help our COVID-distressed women migrant workers!
